Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 2:03PM telecom welcome by rapp nz
i've linked the 'telecom welcome' website - this was an insane 2 day shoot i produced for rapp on behalf of telecom. in 2 days we shot about 10 motion scenarios and maybe 20 stills scenarios, all starring telecom staff members. incredible we made it through, but a great production to handle. it's always fun working with patt murphy and his team at rapp. the majority of the stills were used in a printed welcome pack, but the motion is here on the website. motion handled by kaleidoscope, stills by david shields of international rescue.

fp likes is gonna end up with a pg rating soon...
here is a campaign i produced for stephen on behalf of ecoya directly. stephen is always a super rad guy to work with, and this shoot was no different at all. check his site for more from the same series.

well, it's been a busy few months to say the least. as well as fp continuing to crank out local stills and ambient productions, i've opened a photo studio in eden terrace called shadowlands with the incredible robert hart. shadowlands is a custom designed product and fashion photography studio. it's going to be huuuuuge : )
i have a ton of work to upload from this year, including work with rob hart, stephen tilley, neil bailey, stephen langdon, david sheilds and a few others... clients like vodafone, FOUR, telecom, ecoya, and a ton of fashion clients. stay tuned.
Friday, March 11, 2011 at 11:58AM how jr hopes to change the world
i first fell in love with jr's work when i saw 28 millimetres on the wooster collective around 2006. his stunning b&w portraits paired with his ambitious and clever placement around the streets of the world have led to some truly amazing projects. i'm hoping being the winner of the 2011 ted prize helps promote jr's vision to the world on an even larger scale. definitely the most inspirational thing i've seen in a while - he's an amazing artist, and his presentation at ted is well worth the 25 minute watch.

Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11:23AM the 9 eyes of google street view
i am totally taken by jon rafman's website 9-eyes.com, which is a stunning collection of images pulled from the collosal google street view. the man hours he must have invested to find the shots is staggering - and honestly, so is what he has found. a series of shots with a strangely inherent beauty, and an artistic merit i hadn't expected.

Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 5:48PM what's happening in 2011
it's been far too long since i updated, but fortunately it's been because i've been run off my feet. have been working on some amazing projects with some amazing agencies and shooters... some ambient and stills for the FOUR rebranding with special, some amazing stills and motion with rapp for telecom, some great stuff with origami for vodafone, and quite a bit more.
i'll have some shots soon to post up.
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 3:00PM robert hart for ricochet
it's a bit of a match made in heaven. amber gardner, designer of ricochet, makes beautiful clothing - and robert takes beautiful pictures. together they've put together the ricochet winter 2011 lookbook, and it's way cooler than you are. styling by amber and dan ahwa, makeup by margo regan.

Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 10:49PM erykah badu
i haven't posted a music vid before, but couldn't resist with this one. a beautiful song, and fantastically shot vid... a welcome return to the style that first caught my attention with baduizm and mama's gun. the video's message is a commentary on groupthink and the assassination of individuality. powerful and relevant stuff.
Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 7:00PM 'black ivy' by the streetetiquette boys
i can't wait for the day i can fly these guys over to style a shoot in nz. having enjoyed the styling on their blog for a long time, it's great to see them taking a step up to full editorial work. josh and travis have put this together to illustrate the part played by black americans in shaping the 'americana' look that is everywhere today. ivy league prep at it's best.

Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 10:26AM robert hart for westfield
robert and i recently worked with draftfcb and westfield to create their 'summer of opportunities' catalogue. in it are some stunning images of vanessa from clyne, as well as some amazing product shots, all shot by robert hart. we have to give kudos to melissa and the draft team for such beautiful design and execution of the catalogue itself, it's definitely top-shelf.

Monday, August 9, 2010 at 12:05PM what happened nz stills scene?!!
unsure what the deal is, but wow... things have been flat out. not just us at fp, it seems everyone in the local advertising photography world is rushed off their feet at the moment. this is not me complaining though, we're totally buzzing here at fresh produce.
heaps of work lately with the amazing robert hart, who's fashion work is among the best in new zealand in my humble opinion. i'll post some pics once they drop. in the meantime and on a totally unrelated note, here's a pic of me and sooky (jo cleland's grey pit bull) posing on-set. i want a pit bull, bad.

Friday, June 11, 2010 at 5:06PM beautiful losers
one of the best doco's i've ever seen. it documents the story of the emergence of street art through it's many influences - hip hop, skate and punk. it's storytellers are an eccentric bunch of outcasts who all met in new york in the early 90's and would go on to pioneer the modern scene, including shepard fairey, margaret kilgallen, barry mcgee, chris johanson, harmony korine, and stephen powers (espo). definitely worth the watch.
Friday, June 11, 2010 at 4:07PM portraiture
i'm a total sucker for a plain old portrait. with the right subject, i don't think there can be anything more expressive or narrative than a simple portrait. i often spend time thinking about who would be fun / interesting to shoot. right now it's janelle monae and die antwoord.

Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 8:22AM shots that didn't make the cut
here's a shot from a series troy goodall and i did with brad collette of saatchi's. it's about the client's product catering to unique families. this one didn't make the cut... unfortunate, because i think it's hilarious. great family of talent to work with.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 6:34PM anotheroldfave
here's another series i've dug out of the archives. i produced this in 2009 for optnz on behalf of spid. creative by tim huse and matt swinburne, both out of saatchi's at that stage. this was a really fun shoot to organise, and i still really enjoy looking back at the images.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 5:52PM oldiebutagoodie
shots from an old favourite - a campaign i produced for optnz on behalf of alistair guthrie. creative by jane jamieson and leisa wall at draftfcb, styling by the lovely elaine vreeling, and animal training by mark vette of 'animals on q'. the little blue guys are a brother an sister team, paddy and penny. awesome talent.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 5:01PM 'turned out' by maya
while i'm on the topic of style blogs, i have to mention www.turnedout.tv. turned out is the blog of maya villiger, an old work colleague and friend of mine. maya now spends her time taking amazing photographs of interesting people with unique personal style in cities including sydney, paris, new york, auckland and berlin.
